Grade 6 students take to the dancefloor

Grade 6 have started a new unit of Dance in P.E.
In the first short video we get to see students learning and performing "The Nutbush".
A simple dance which relies on beats of 8 for each movement and repetition of these movements.
In the second and third videos, students had to use their understanding of the beat and the timing of movements to create their own "Nutbush Dance".
While I gave directionand correction on some of their movements, some groups persevered with some tricky transitions given the tempo of the music.
While the students made mistakes, they learned a lot about composition of movements and how to pace and time an 8 beat sequence so it fits into the next one.
This is formative work for an upcoming summative task of a similar nature.
Students will continue to work on small tasks such as these to practice important skills.
