Grade 6 are studying Nutrition and the Habits of Healthy People this quarter.
A friend of mine found this article. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/17/magazine/mag-17Sugar-t.html
Please read it.
It is so relevant no matter what part of the world we live in and it supports what I have been teaching Grade 6 about food choices.(low fat/high sugar)
This week we will look at snack foods and balanced meal choices.
Ask your child to tell you the "life rules of food" (F/K block have them, D/L block will get them this week).
These are rules to consume food by- meaning you don't need a food pyramid, scales or calorie counters to be healthy.
Food should be a joyful experience- shared with family and friends and not to feel guilty about.
What is the food culture in your home?
Do you celebrate eating together?
