Student of the Month for March
Student of the Month for March… Soo Jin (Susie) Kim
She always puts forth her best effort. She is organized, caring and friendly with her classmates, and her teachers.
She often voluntarily offers to help others, including teachers and her peers.
She has been reflective in her current tech assignment. She has spent time considering how to assemble her project and turn it into a quality product.
She takes her work seriously in PE class. She is Principled with staying on task and she earnestly attempts all activities, regardless of how difficult they are. She was a very enthusiastic service participant on our field trip to Hannam University.
Congratulations Susie |
Jesus is an Inspiration
Sharing a video I saw in Church today.
Thanks to Pastor Norton for sharing it with us.
Take a moment to reflect on the perfect role model Jesus is for us and an inspiration personally for how to live my life in a better way.
Middle School Biblical Value Statement
THINKERS: Establishing our thinking on Biblical foundations provides a framework for ethical decisions to be made and principled thinking to be exercised from.
Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Grade 7
Here is a nice collage photo of Grade 7 during their Service project at Hannam.
Students used their knowledge of the effects of smoking on the body to educate Hannam University students. It was a very successful project!
The PE page has also been updated with some pictures of our Tennis lessons.

From Mr Moimoi
KNOWLEDGEABLE Biblical Value for Middle School:
The knowledge of God allows a framework to view humanity in all its endeavors. His Word holds relevance to every sphere and aspect of life. Such knowledge extends the students’ knowledge of humanity and God in all disciplines and school activities.
This is what the LORD says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. (italics from Mr Moimoi)
Proverbs 2:1-6
1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. (italics from Mr Moimoi)
Attention all leaders or wannabe leaders...
Here is an excerpt taken from John Spencer's blog about Leadership and the traits associated with being a leader.
"Leaders, however, work in nuance and paradox. They serve humbly but also speak boldly. They understand that change happens relationally through trust. True, a leader will articulate rules, but the goal is to help a child develop a philosophical and ethical understanding behind behaviors.
Leadership is messy. It takes longer. It is often more confusing, more painful and more counterintuitive than management. However, ultimately I want to be a leader rather than a manager."
So how does this relate to you?
Do you want to be a leader? Do you consider yourself a leader?
Can you notice any of the above traits in yourself?
Can you work to develop more of these traits to quietly develop your leadership skills?

Management | Leadership | |
Attitude | Compliance | Humility |
Authority | Based upon title | Based upon earned trust |
Questions | Questions are viewed as a threat to authority | Encourages questions to develop an ethical understanding |
The Framework | Procedural | Relational |
Rules / Boundaries | Based upon conformity | Based upon an ethical, philosophical concept |
Procedures | Standardized | Personalized |
Innovation | Discouraged if it challenges the status quo | Provides a vision that inspires others |
Submission | Forced: based upon a fear | Voluntarily: submitting to another’s strengths to protect one’s weaknesses |
Motivation | Extrinsic | Intrinsic |
The Results | Behave externally but rebel internally (or when no one is looking) | Empathetic, ethical thinkers who want to do what is right |
